What are voucher codes?

Voucher codes are special codes issued by online shops who want you to go there any buy things. What happens if I’m not allowed to use a code

If you are not allowed to use a voucher code, for example, because it’s for new customers and you’re not a new customer, or because it is for students and you’re not a student then there are a few possibilities. Firstly, the code may simply not work and a well set-up website will probably tell you why not (for example because it has expired, or you don’t meet the requirements). Secondly, it might work but the merchant might not honour it when processing your order. When you click that, the website will check to see if you are eligible for the code and if you are, you should see the discount appear before you complete your order.

What if the code doesn’t work?

If you don’t see the code working, it’s usually safest to assume that it is no longer valid or has been withdrawn (which sometimes happens if a shop has reached their quota of sales or discounts). If you complete your order, there is no guarantee that the retailer will honour the code if you contact them after the purchase has been completed.
